Objectives: The B.A. degree programme is a combination of courses in the areas of humanities and social sciences. The main objectives are to enable to develop the learner in intellectual persuit of knowledge of the concerned subject, to inculcate in general the study skills and to expose learner to the areas of application of knowledge in the chosen area. The study is expected to build a strong base to motivate for further education.
Duration: The B.A. degree programme is of 3 Years divided into B.A. I (First Year B.A.), B.A. II (Second Year B.A.), B.A. III (Third Year B.A.).
Eligibility for admission: A candidate who has passed HSC (10+2 level) or equivalent examination of any statutory Board or recognized University with English, as one of the passing subject is eligible for admission to the B.A. programme in the First Year.
The structure of B.A. degree programme: The B.A. degree programme is available with following specializations:
English, Marathi or Geography.
Economics, Political Science, Sociology.
A candidate has to select the specialization in which he will have take 7 papers at Special Level, 2 papers in Compulsory English. The pattern of Study spread over 3 years will be as under:
F.Y.B.A. (B.A.I) (6 Courses/papers of 100 marks each):
Course/paper 1 : Compulsory English
Course/paper 2 : English (optional) (G1)
Course/paper 3 : Marathi (G1)
OR
Political Science (G1)
Course/paper 4 : Economics (G1)
Course/paper 5 : Geography (G1)
Course/paper 6 : Sociology (G1)
S.Y.B.A. (B.A. II) (Courses/papers of 100 marks each):
A student shall be required to 1 course/paper in Compulsory English and course/paper
2 to 6 will as under:
- 2 courses/papers i.e. S1 and S2 in the special subject selected by him.
- 1 courses/papers i.e. G2 in the said special subject as above and
- 2 courses/papers (one each i.e. G2 in Two allied subjects to be selected)
T.Y.B.A. (B.A. III) Courses/papers of 100 marks each):
A student shall be required to study1 course/paper in Compulsory English and courses under 2 to 6 (S3, S4, S5, S6, S7) in subject offered at Special level in the Second Year.
