PREAMBLE

The academic autonomy, functional flexibility and commitment to accountability have contributed towards dynamism in the functioning of all the constituents of the Bharati Vidyapeeth University. It is against this background that activities such as research and extension work, of Degree / Diploma Programmes, Curriculum Development, Teaching / Learning Mechanism, Student Support Services etc. are planned and properly nurtured.

The built-in administrative mechanism and academic processes created in the University include authorities such as Boards of Studies, faculties headed by the Deans, Academic Council, Board of Management etc. In addition to senior professors from the constituent units of the University, these authorities have experts, professionals and renowned scholars nominated on them. Together they constitute a team of over 500 faculties.

Knowledge and wisdom pooled together through these bodies go into making of Quality academic products and service in the form of degree / diploma / certificate programmes. The course contents developed under these are subject to constant review at the level of classroom delivery through students' feedback and evaluation through by outside professionals, outside experts and statutory bodies including UGC and AICTE.

Over the years, the University has developed very rich infra structural facilities in its constituent units. All of its College/Institutes have their own independent, spacious, well-structured buildings, well-equipped laboratories and continuously updated libraries. The faculties of all these Colleges/Institutes include senior teachers with commendable expertise in their respective subjects. The facilities available in the Colleges and also the expert guidance of the teachers therein are available to the students who enroll with our School of Distance Education.
The Degrees and Diplomas awarded by this University are recognized by the Central and State Governments and also by respective Statutory Councils. The candidates possessing them are considered eligible for jobs in the public and private sectors, for promotion, for further studies, for awards of scholarships and fellowships, etc.

SCHOOL OF DISTANCE EDUCATION (SDE)

Bharati Vidyapeeth University has established the School of Distance Education with an approval of Distance Education Council of India, to provide academic programmes in various disciplines to the students desirous of taking higher education.

The School is an independent unit headed by a senior academic who works as a Director of the School. There is an adequate administrative back up provided to the School to facilitate its work. The School takes help of a large number of experts in various fields to run its programmes. The office of the School is located in Pune.

PHILOSOPHY  OF DISTANCE EDUCATION

Bharati Vidyapeeth University is an academic institution with social commitment. Through its constituent units, it has made high Quality education available to a large number of students. However, the University is aware that almost 90% of the students, belonging to the college going age-group i.e. 17-21 years, do not get opportunities to go for higher education because of numerous difficulties. Some of them are located in rural and tribal areas, Some are too poor to afford the cost of higher education, others are employed or tied up with the house hold
